I got into fostering dogs five years ago after stumbling upon a stray Shih Tzu mix on a return trip from Target. After placing her in the perfect home four months later, I had the confidence to help other animals. I went to the place I thought had the greatest need. At the time it was PACCA, now ACCT. The most common question is how do you not get attached to the animals? What fills my heart is finding the right person to love that dog. It doesn’t have to be me. Fostering is not about me. There are other dogs waiting at the shelter. Once I know the match is a good one, I move on to my next endeavor. I am grateful to my resident Pug for tolerating the revolving door of strange dogs in our home. I stay focused, know my limitations and utilize all resources available to market them. The end result is immensely fulfilling.
