What a year it has been! 2018 started off with one word…CATS! Did you know that there are tens of thousands of unowned ‘community cats’ in Philadelphia? These outside kitties are many times fed and cared for by volunteer caretakers but many times they must survive on their own. Making outdoor shelters for these cats is something we hold close to our hearts- in 2018 we hosted 2 events where over 200 outdoor shelters were built. We continued to source and transport pet food for the ACCT Philly pet pantry which helps people who cannot afford to feed their pets.
We also donated much needed pet food to Philly area rescue partners who are saving dogs from ACCT. We hosted two shelter clean up events which included fixing and donating dog beds for the shelter pups. In 2018 we donated over $20,000 to ACCT Philly and ACCT Philly rescue partners in the form of paying vet bills, donating flea/tick meds, and other much needed items. Our Board of Directors grew to 6 amazing people and we are busier than ever since the need to help homeless animals is so great.
In 2019 we encourage each of you to just do ONE thing to help your town’s homeless pets- can you donate your time to Philadoptables or your area shelter? Can you foster an animal? Can you donate a few dollars? Are you looking to adopt a new best friend? If each person can do just one thing, 2019 will be even better than 2018.
From our Philadoptables family to yours, thank you for your support and, Happy New Year!
