Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation

bissel donationThanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation, Philadoptables was awarded a grant to purchase much needed medical supplies for the clinic at Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia. Our first drop off included many supplies desperately needed for the feral/community  cat clinics – cautery pens, live traps, penicillin, wildlife gloves, eye ointment, heating pads and wet cat food. Stay tuned as we have more goodies making their way to the shelter!

-All year long- collected and donated over 150,000lbs of cat and dog food to the shelter’s pet food pantry, foster parents, and rescue partners.
-Manned a giant balloon in the 6ABC Thanksgiving Day parade
-Participated in Camp Out for Hunger- a week long pet food drive with The Preston & Steve Show
We may be  forgetting some things but as we  look at this list of accomplishments, done by people with full-time jobs, our own pets, all active volunteers at the shelter we support (Philadelphia’s animal control shelter- ACCT Philly), we are blown away and know we never could have done it alone. You are the fuel for our fire.
Now we are off to take a quick nap and get back out there because 2014 is going to be bigger and better and we can’t do it without you!
On behalf of the Board of Directors for Philadoptables – John, Christa, Jeanie, Lori, Marta, and Michelle- and the homeless shelter animals of Philadelphia, we THANK YOU for your support.

WMMR’s Camp Out For Hunger 2013

Fotor12127489

We were once again thrilled to be invited by The Preston and Steve Show to participate in WMMR’s Camp Out For Hunger! The week long event was held at Xfinity Live in Philadelphia and as in years past, our supporters and fans didn’t let us down!

It’s such an honor to be involved in this huge event which allows us to stock the food pantry at the city’s intake shelter. Without the donations we receive through Camp Out For Hunger, we would not be able to support our rescue partners or help feed the pets of the city’s neediest residents. The donations we receive allow us to help families who might not otherwise be able to keep their pets fed and help to lower surrender rates due to the costs associated with having pets.

This year, thanks to our fans and supporters, donations increased tremendously at our off-site drop-off locations and thanks to Pet Valu and Pet360, we literally saw food come in by the truckload! We couldn’t do this without the support of each and every one of you and are especially grateful for our corporate partners.

Thank you so much to everyone at The Preston and Steve Show for having us. We look forward to Camp Out For Hunger every year and seeing so many people come out and support Philly’s homeless pets. We value your support of our mission more than you could ever know!

New Doggie Play Yards

play_yard_Dog
After we built the large play yard last year we were asked if we could do it all over again! So…we did!  We built an even larger play yard and 4 additional play yards/dog socialization areas at ACCT Philly! The completion of these 5 shelter dog play yards marks the culmination of our largest project yet. Without our friends at Animal Farm Foundation believing in us, without our donors and friends, this build would not be possible. There are thousands of dogs that come through these shelter doors every year and while each and every dog that enters may not get a romp in these new play yards the ones that do will love it!  The play yards allow dogs to relax, decompress, run, burn off energy and even get silly.  Philadoptables strives to make the shelter stay better for dogs and with your help we are doing just that!

From the bottom of our furry little hearts, we THANK YOU!

Camp Out For Hunger 2013!

It is our favorite time of the year! This is Philadoptables’ fourth year collecting donated pet food with WMMR’s The Preston & Steve Show! This week- long on-site collection event features Philly’s favorite radio personalities living in RVs in a parking lot. This event has been collecting people food Philabundance for years and the guys saw the need to feed Philly’s homeless and hungry animals as well. Donated food to Philadoptables will be distributed to people in need, wonderful foster parents from Philly’s animal control shelter, ACCT Philly, and the amazing rescue partners who take animals from that shelter. RIGHT NOW folks like you are setting up pet food drives in their offices, retail locations, churches and schools. We will provide you with a letter explaining the event and posters to get you started. All collections must be dropped off to us by Friday, November 29th OR at the event Monday, December 2-Friday Dec 6 at Xfinity Live’s parking lot. Want to help? Please contact [email protected] or you can find out more on our Facebook page!
