We decided to close out 2020 by donating to 12 local animal welfare charities that help Philadelphia’s homeless animals – for a total of $6,000! We hope that this small gesture will kickstart the year for these amazing organizations who rely on the generosity of their donors to continue their lifesaving work. Together these organizations saved hundreds of animals this year as well as helping community cats and owned pets! It was so very exciting for us to be able to give back and we could not have done it without you.
Our first TNR clinic was a huge success!
Sunday, August 23 was an amazing day! We co-hosted a TNR clinic which was totally free to anyone who brought in an outside (or three or five) cat for spay/neuter surgery. This service is vital to keeping a control on what often becomes an overwhelming situation as cats reproduce. Our total for the event was not 100 as planned – it was 119 cats through surgery- 52 female and 67 male kitties! The cost of the clinic was covered by Philadoptables and The Peanut Fund. The Philly cat community rocks- such special people! Listening to all the stories of their beloved community/outside cats was really wonderful.
We are HAPPY to help such great animal lovers and THANK everyone who came out today! Special thanks to Marta for organizing the event and for the wonderful care given to these kitties by PAWS staff Natalie, Lucy, and their team.
Bonnie
On Thursday we saw a video of a sad pup with hair loss on the urgent list at ACCT Philly. She was brought into the shelter by a kind Philly police officer who found her tied to a fence. She’s probably no older than 5 but clearly her life hasn’t been easy. What kind of person leaves a living breathing animal tied to a fence? She didn’t even have an opportunity to find food/shelter/water for herself.
Hillside SPCA agreed to take her into their care. Check out the picture of her ‘freedom ride’ out of the shelter- she rode on her rescuer’s lap the whole way. Best wishes, Bonnie!
Bubba
Our friends at Rags 2 Riches Rescue work with the local police department when strays are found. (the area has no animal control facility!). Bubba aka Stray Pup, has finished his stray hold but no owner stepped forward. The kind folks at Rags to Riches are going to find him a foster home so they can get to know him better. We donated the necessary funds for his neuter surgery. Best wishes to this hunka hunka! <3
Clipper Donation for Forgotten Cats
Sweet kitties like this one often arrive at Forgotten Cats with injuries. Fur needs to be shaved to clearly see and treat the injuries. We heard that their vet clippers are in need of replacing so we donated 2 new pairs! They are an awesome organization and we were happy to help.
