At Philadoptables, our mission is to give every animal a second chance at life. Today, we want to share the heart-wrenching yet hopeful story of Halo—a tiny stray who has already overcome so much and is now on the road to recovery, thanks to the incredible support of our community and the loving care of Foxy’s Cradle.
A Desperate Night Turned to Hope
On a cold February night, Halo found herself in a difficult situation. A kind-hearted Good Samaritan discovered her wandering as a stray and quickly brought her to ACCT Philly for emergency care. Although the team at ACCT stabilized her as best as they could, Halo needed specialized medical attention that exceeded their resources. With her pain managed but her condition still critical, rescue assistance was urgently requested. By 5:00 PM, with a crucial 6:00 PM vet care deadline looming, a dedicated medical foster stepped in—arriving within 30 minutes—to ensure Halo was swiftly transferred to rescue safety.
The Battle Within
Halo’s injuries are extensive:
- Infected puncture wounds on her ears
- Several necrotic wounds on her left foot
- Multiple wounds on her right leg
- Approximately one-third of her tail traumatically amputated
- Inability to put weight on either back leg
Despite these harrowing challenges, Halo remains a sweet, brave little soul, weighing only about 4 lbs. Resting now on a warming pad in the comfort of her foster home, she is being closely monitored throughout the night. Tomorrow, she will be taken for a morning vet visit to begin her journey to healing. We remain hopeful that, with the right care and abundant love, Halo will soon be on the mend and eventually find her forever home.
A Community United in Compassion
We at Philadoptables are proud to have donated $300 toward Halo’s much-needed medical expenses. This contribution is just one example of how our community’s generosity makes a real difference in the lives of vulnerable animals. We extend our deepest gratitude to:
- ACCT Philly for their dedicated care and for entrusting Halo’s care to us.
- The amazing medical foster, Julie, who rushed to get Halo to safety, cared for her overnight, and will drive her for her vet visit in the morning.
- And to every supporter and donor who continues to rally behind our mission—your good vibes, prayers, and financial contributions are vital in covering the hefty vet costs ahead, which may even include surgery.
Thank you for your unwavering support and compassion. Together, we can save lives—one little one at a time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Philadoptables Team
