Philadoptables Sponsors Community Cat Shelter Events

15241370_1157844564310947_7114859467914766273_nPhiladoptables, in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, Project M.E.O.W., and the Granny Project, has sponsored THREE recent events to help out Philadelphia’s community cats this winter!

On October 16th, 2016, at ACCT Philly’s Hunting Park campus and again on December 3rd, 2016, at the Beaumont Warehouse, cat lovers from all over Philadelphia came together to learn how to build shelters for their outdoor four-legged friends. Over 200 shelters were built and taken back to the community by workshop attendees. These shelters provide outdoor cats with a safe, warm home during inclement weather and are critical to their survival during the cold winter months.

Additionally on January 16th, 2017, more than 50 cat lovers came together at ACCT Philly on MLK Day of Service to construct 50+ additional shelters for Philadelphia’s homeless cats. It was another really great day for community cats, caretakers, trappers and community service volunteers.

Hooray for warm kitties!

See more pictures from the workshops below and follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on future events.

Camp Out for Hunger 2016 is here!

truck loadingIn 2010 Philadoptables was approached to collect pet food at WMMR’s The Preston & Steve Show’s Camp out For Hunger. This drive has been a people-food drive since its inception but the guys were kind enough to see the effect the economy was having on animals and their families. Collected food goes to families in need, foster parents of Philly’s animal control shelter and rescue partners who pull animals from the Philly shelter and into their loving care.

This will be our SEVENTH year being part of this amazing event! Philadoptables’ preparation begins a few months in advance as we start identifying locations to place collection boxes – schools, offices, stores, everywhere we can think ok! Our volunteers are amazing and all collected food is brought to the BIG EVENT – November 28th through December 2nd at Xfinity Live!

pup frameTraditionally Preston and Steve have lived in an RV for a week while conducting live shows out of a giant tent. This week long event is super fun but more importantly – everyone there is donating people and pet food of those in need. As we ramp up for Camp Out 2016 we need your help more than ever! We are looking for folks to help collect donated pet food – we provided a letter of introduction and flyers here. Need posters and collection boxes? Let us know!!

Follow us on Facebook for event updates throughout the week. Your help is needed to make this year a success!

Camp Out for Hunger 2016

camp-out-flyerWe are ready to get down to the business of feeding hungry pets in need. This year let’s think BUILDING COMMUNITY!

The food drive is about people helping people and we need every one of you to make this year a success! We are looking to find companies, schools, businesses, neighborhoods, scout groups, etc to run pet food drives of their own during October or November.

We can provide a letter about the food drive and our Treasury certificate showing Philadoptables non-profit status to get the ball rolling. We can also help with posters and transportation of the donated items! Please reach out to your contacts in the community and let’s identify some locations!

Can you help? Message us at [email protected]!

Cool Treats in the Summer Time!

cool treats for summer time

ACCT Philly volunteers & staff work so hard all year round for the shelter babies! This past week has been very hot with another heat wave in Philly! Philadoptables wanted to say thank you to the dedicated volunteers & staff and cheerfully delivered Ice cream, Popsicles & Frozen Treats for them to enjoy! No matter what the weather, volunteers and staff work so hard for the shelter babies that they love!  We wanted to say Thank you and couldn’t think of a better way to do it!  Pictured is:  Taylor from lifesaving at ACCT Philly.
