Supporting Kolony Kats

Kolony Kats is an organization that provides for the outdoor cats in our community. The family centered organization cares for more than 70+ community cats living outdoors every single day! To say they are lifesaving heroes is an understatement!

To aide in their incredible work, we were honored to gift Kolony Kats with a brand new Hero Universal Microchip reader. The microchip reader will save their team so much time when trying to identify new cats along their route.

View the story here and check out the amazing work Kolony Kats does on Facebook and Instagram!

Help for a Dog That Just Needed a Chance!

A few weeks ago, we were contacted by a man named KJ looking for advice. A pit bull appeared in his neighbor’s alleyway and he noticed that the dog was outside all the time over the course of a few days. One morning KJ went to the fence and saw that the dog looked cold, wet, and hungry. He fed him through the fence and was saddened to realize how neglected this friendly pup was.

This kindhearted man decided to do something. KJ wrote a note and put it in his neighbor’s mailbox. The note stated, “Please give me a call if you are unable to care for the dog outside.” The neighbor called and asked him to take their dog. KJ and his wife have a dog of their own and a 2-month-old baby, but this didn’t stop him from doing what he knew was right. He took the dog home, bathed him, and decided he would do whatever he could to find him a new home. He also named the dog Chance.

Philadoptables made arrangements to pay for Chance to be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped at Emancipet’s Philly location. It’s always ideal for dogs to be spayed or neutered before being adopted to
control the population (and for health reasons!).

KJ had a friend that offered to hold Chance until a home was found after his neuter surgery. And you can imagine how this ended. The friend, named Duffy, fell in love with Chance and decided to adopt him. Chance now has a Newfoundland sister named Freyja and he is living his best life in his new home.

Funds for Felines

We decided to start April out strong by awarding a $500 grant to One Love Animal Rescue, Inc.

The grant was requested to provide aid to some very deserving cats. Adoptable Wink and Aquarius are special needs kitties that deserve humane care, love, and medical care — and OLAR is giving them just that! Wink has a damaged eye that may need possible surgery and Aquarius suffers from congenital incontinence. Philadoptables is thrilled to award OLAR this grant to assist with medical care and contribute to their lifesaving work.

The mission of One Love Animal Rescue Group is to rescue homeless animals, nurture them through foster care, and place them in permanent loving homes. They are passionate animal advocates who value the lives of these disadvantaged animals and recognize their enormous potential to be transformed into healthy and happy family pets. One Love promotes responsible pet ownership and encourages others in our community to be kind to all animals, to reduce pet overpopulation, and to join us in our mission to improve the outcomes of homeless animals.

Bonnie

On Thursday we saw a video of a sad pup with hair loss on the urgent list at ACCT Philly. She was brought into the shelter by a kind Philly police officer who found her tied to a fence. She’s probably no older than 5 but clearly her life hasn’t been easy. What kind of person leaves a living breathing animal tied to a fence? She didn’t even have an opportunity to find food/shelter/water for herself.

Hillside SPCA agreed to take her into their care. Check out the picture of her ‘freedom ride’ out of the shelter- she rode on her rescuer’s lap the whole way. Best wishes, Bonnie!
