Funds for Felines

We decided to start April out strong by awarding a $500 grant to One Love Animal Rescue, Inc.

The grant was requested to provide aid to some very deserving cats. Adoptable Wink and Aquarius are special needs kitties that deserve humane care, love, and medical care — and OLAR is giving them just that! Wink has a damaged eye that may need possible surgery and Aquarius suffers from congenital incontinence. Philadoptables is thrilled to award OLAR this grant to assist with medical care and contribute to their lifesaving work.

The mission of One Love Animal Rescue Group is to rescue homeless animals, nurture them through foster care, and place them in permanent loving homes. They are passionate animal advocates who value the lives of these disadvantaged animals and recognize their enormous potential to be transformed into healthy and happy family pets. One Love promotes responsible pet ownership and encourages others in our community to be kind to all animals, to reduce pet overpopulation, and to join us in our mission to improve the outcomes of homeless animals.

Cozy Comfort for Cats!

Happy cats = happy life!

Last week, volunteers and team members of Philadoptables helped redo the cat meet and greet room in the Petco Foundation Welcome Center’s Kitty Corner at ACCT Philly. Installing cat shelves and wall-mounted cat beds will give these very deserving kitties a chance to roam around and socialize more outside of their kennels.

But wait, there’s more! The upgrades don’t stop here. In December of 2020, thanks to Philadoptables, generous Giving Tuesday supporters, and Jennifer Rice, and the Forman Family Foundation we donated $10,000 to ACCT Philly for Comfort Cages! This donation helped to ensure that the thousands of cats ACCT takes in each year don’t stay in noisy cages sleeping next to their litterbox, but instead, wait for homes in quieter, better ventilated, and more spacious housing, reducing stress and disease. The Comfort Cages for the adoption rooms will arrive soon and the cats will be rightfully spoiled even more. All made possible thanks to our community of supporters!

Teamwork makes the dream work! Read more about the donated Comfort Cages here

2020 Year End Message

2020 was an extremely memorable year for many reasons. The COVID-19 pandemic was a challenge for nonprofit organizations, like Philadoptables, who rely on in-person events and fundraisers to generate money to support our animal lifesaving activity. Thankfully, we will be able to hold our annual Love Potions event in February- although this 2021 event will be virtual!

Here are some of our other notable accomplishments in 2020:

  • We kicked off 2020 by donating a total of $12,000 to 20 amazing local rescues in a “20 for 2020” campaign.
  • We ramped up our involvement with community cats by funding a large number of spay and neuter surgeries. We hosted a TNR (trap, neuter, return) clinic with The Peanut Fund and funded 119 surgeries.
  • After rescheduling twice, we held our Second Annual Philadoptables’ (socially distanced) Golf Outing in November and raised almost $12,000.
  • We partnered with Philly Auto and Parole to hold a pet food pantry event to help struggling pet owners.
  • We shot our 2021 Hunks for Hounds calendar outdoors at the beautiful Thistle Dew Farm in Bucks County, PA.
  • We had our first ever outdoor fitness challenge fundraiser hosted by Earn Your Break (who also modeled in the 2021 Hunks for Hounds Charity Calendar) and Dub Fitness.
  • We masked up and held one of our much needed Shelter Clean Up events at ACCT Philly.
  • We donated $10,000 to help revamp the cat housing at ACCT Philly.
  • We wrapped up the year with “12 Days of Giving” where we donated $500 each to 12 deserving rescue groups.
  • Finally, we would like to express our gratitude for our partnership with PetValu. This wonderful business was extremely generous and supported all of our endeavors for the last 11 years. We are sad to see them shut down, but we will always fondly remember our relationship.

All of this activity would not be possible without our supporters. Whether you donated/participated/volunteered with us or just shared our social media posts, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
XO,
Ali, Diana, Michelle, and Sandy

Philadoptables 2020 Annual Pet Food Collection

Our annual pet food drive was a success for a few reasons:

  1. Amazing supporters sent Amazon donations from our wish list!! THANK YOU to Michele O/Poshy Blooms, Barbara C, Heather M, Carrie H, John H, Joan M, Blair P, Randalynn K, Samantha R, and others- some donations came without a donor name.
  2. Corporate partners Pet Valu and Finance of America Cares who helped with food, and
  3. Our wonderful volunteers who set up collection boxes in the Delaware Valley! Every donation is appreciated and is now in the paws of hungry dogs and cats.

In line with our mission, we have shared donations with some local rescues, some community cat feeders (who feed outside cats 365 and pay for the food themselves), and to the public at our pet food pantry last Saturday!

Our annual pet food drive has officially ended but we can still take donations– monetary or pet food- if you missed it.

Dec. 5th Pet Food Pantry Recap

Today’s event- distributing tons of much needed pet food to SW Philly residents- was the culmination of weeks of planning and a month long pet food collection. We were able to distribute this pet food to families in need because our donors are so generous and sent us boxes of pet food from our Amazon wish list, Pet Valu gave us a pallet of pet food, our super fantastic volunteers collected pet food throughout the state and our friends at Finance of America Cares supported us with a $2500 grant, which we happily spent on wet/dry cat food and cat litter. Diana has never been so excited!

When we first founded Philadoptables, our mission was to support the city’s open in take animal shelter ( now ACCT Philly ) and through the years we’ve grown to include rescues who pull from the city shelter, community cats, and owned pets in need. We are very excited to take the next step and do more in the community with amazing groups like Philly Auto and Parole (PAAP).

Please enjoy these pics of us, braving the wind, and helping hungry pets! Much thanks to The Arrimour Group for lending us their giant truck to transport our food and of course or partners today, PAAP, who organized, promoted, and hosted the pet food pantry.
