Meet Auggie: A Story of Hope and Healing

This is Auggie. Two years ago, his life took a heartbreaking turn. According to neighbors, Auggie was put outside when the people in his home got new furniture. Left to fend for himself, Auggie struggled to survive and endured many bite wounds as a result.

Thankfully, our friend Angelo stepped in. Angelo brought Auggie indoors, giving him the safety he so desperately needed, and connected him with a rescue that will take the time to help Auggie heal and learn to trust again.

We’re so grateful to have been part of Auggie’s journey by assisting with his veterinary care. This sweet boy deserves a second chance, and because of supporters like you, we were able to make sure he got it.

When Helpers Find Us: A Tale of Pretty Face, Donnie, and Rose

It’s like Mr. Rogers said: “Find the helpers.” But sometimes, the helpers find us!

A couple of weeks ago, we received an email with an unusual request:
“Wanted to see if we can get a discount for a female kitty—making grinding noise when eats.”

Of course, that email sparked plenty of questions: Whose cat is it? How old is she? And most importantly—can we see a picture of this beautiful kitty?

That email introduced us to Rose, a remarkable woman who’s been rescuing cats for as long as she can remember. Rose is one of those incredible people who takes in the broken babes, nurses them back to health, and finds them loving homes. The kitty in question? A senior named Pretty Face, who had spent most of her life outside until recently. Pretty Face even models her sweater like the queen she is!

We immediately agreed to help cover Pretty Face’s dental procedure. But yesterday, she came down with a kitty cold, so her spot went to another one of Rose’s cats: Donnie, a quiet and handsome white-and-gray gentleman. Donnie has two tumors in his mouth, and thanks to your support, he was able to receive the surgery he desperately needed. Rose assures us that Donnie will feel so much better afterward, and we’re anxiously waiting for updates on how he’s doing.

Rose still has more cats in need of care, and we’ve promised her she won’t have to do it alone. Because of YOU—our amazing community—we can be there for animals like Pretty Face, Donnie, and so many others.

How a Community Came Together to Save Baby

Every once in a while, there’s a story that reminds us just how powerful collective action can be. This is one of those stories. Meet Baby—an adorable dog who’s persevered through many challenges, thanks to the kindness of a dedicated community.

Last week, Baby’s world began to change when her owner’s friend reached out for help, desperately seeking medical assistance for this sweet pup. What followed was a heartwarming example of how rescue organizations and compassionate people can work together to make a life-changing difference. Here’s the incredible story of Baby, the loving network that stepped up, and how you can continue to make a difference for animals in need.

Baby’s Journey to Finding Care

Baby’s story began in 2022 when she was adopted from ACCT Philly. Like many rescue animals, Baby had experienced her share of tough times. Her future began to look brighter under the care of a wonderful woman who adopted her and offered her a loving home.

However, Baby recently faced a serious medical concern—a large growth on her side was getting bigger and had started to bleed. Baby’s owner, despite providing all the love and care possible, knew that medical attention was urgently needed but wasn’t sure how to make it happen financially. That’s when her community stepped in.

A Network of Compassionate Heroes

When Baby’s situation reached us, we knew this was a call for collective action. Acting quickly, we reached out to our network of rescue partners in the Philadelphia area. What happened next was nothing short of amazing.

Organizations came together, offering time, resources, and expertise to ensure Baby would get the care she needed. Thanks to this network of compassionate heroes, Baby received surgery at The Bridge Clinic to remove the growth. She is now recovering at home, surrounded by love and on the path to healing.

End of the Year Message

It is the time of year when things are winding down, work slows down and people are enjoying time with their pets, family and friends. We are too but also doing some 2025 planning! This year the work that we were able to do and the animals that we were able to help exceeded our expectations and plans for 2024.

We get so busy with our jobs and our own pets and family we sometimes forget to let all of you know what we’re working on. In 2024 we have donated over $45,000 YTD to help animals in the Philly Metro area.

We spent over $9,000 helping community cats. If you didn’t know, community cats are cats that live outside and do not have an owner. This $9,000 was used for spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and urgent medical care.

We spent over $6,000 on community outreach- helping pets and their people in need of food, supplies, and other things meant to keep pets in their homes.

One of the things that’s near and dear to our heart is helping animals get out of the Philadelphia open intake shelter, ACCT Philly. This year we more than doubled the amount of money we donated toward medical care to rescues to help urgent cats, dogs and other animals make it out of the shelter. This year’s number was over $22,000!

These are just a couple of the things that we work on behind the scenes and we’d never be able to do it without support from all of you so thank you!
