Being invited to participate in The Preston and Steve Show’s Camp Out for Hunger 10 years ago was a game changer for Philly’s hungry animals. During the last 10 years we have been able to collect truckloads of pet food donations for the city’s pet food pantry- a service that keeps families together. We have helped thousands of animals with this collected food, helped numerous rescues and foster parents who have pulled shelter animals to safety. ‘Grateful’ does not even describe how we feel- thank you for this lifesaving opportunity.
Students Hold Pet Food Collection for Philadoptables
Holy Child Academy in Drexel Hill, PA has some pretty amazing students! Their Pre-K and Kindergarten classes ran a food collection drive for the entire school (nursery school through 8th grade) to benefit Camp Out for Hunger. In addition to human food, the kids are collecting pet food for Philadoptables. Total collected? 731 dog/cat food and nonperishable items!! What an impressive group! We are very grateful to The Head of School, Mrs. Margaret Fox-Tully, as well as the Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Annie Barrera, and the Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Sharon DeBardino, for helping to facilitate this drive! The food will go to good use!

We need your help – Camp Out For Hunger 2019!
UPDATE– Pet food donations needed- This is our 10th year in a row (TEN YEARS! ) collecting cat and dog food for the pet pantry. Our food drive will run for the next three weeks and cat and dog food donations can be dropped off at any of these convenient locations. 🐾
We are looking for businesses, offices, schools, and individuals to collect donated pet food during our annual pet food drive at Camp Out for Hunger 2019.
Many people don’t know that Philadoptables stocks a pet food pantry in Philadelphia for people who cannot feed their pets. Over 300 animals are helped monthly! In 2010 Philadoptables was invited to collect pet food at WMMR’s The Preston & Steve Show’s Camp Out For Hunger. This event is a food drive for people since its inception, but the show hosts were kind enough to see the effect the economy was having on animals and their families. Collected pet food goes to families in need, foster parents of Philly’s open intake shelter and rescue partners who pull animals from the Philly shelter and into their loving care.
This will be our TENTH year being part of this amazing event! WMMR radio hosts Preston and Steve live in an RV for a week while conducting live shows out of a giant tent. This week-long event is super fun but more importantly – everyone there is donating people and pet food of those in need.
Philadoptables’ preparation begins a couple months in advance as we start identifying locations to place collection boxes – schools, offices, stores, everywhere we can think of! Our volunteers are amazing, and all collected food is brought to the BIG EVENT – December 2- December 6 at Xfinity Live!
Email us at info@philadoptables.org if you can help feed hungry animals! We will provide a letter of introduction, collection boxes, downloadable flyers, and posters.
Follow us on Facebook for updates as we ramp up to the event. You can help make this year a success!

Playgroups are Lifesaving for Dogs at ACCT Philly
ACCT Philly’s volunteer-led playgroup gives adopters and rescues more behavioral information on the dogs and provides much needed enrichment for the ‘dog social’ dogs.
It’s such a treat watching dogs enter the play yard and begin to loosen up, bounce around, and have some real fun in an otherwise stressful place. For some dogs, playgroup can make the difference between a decline in kennel and a dog getting to be a dog!
When ACCT reached out to us about providing some supplies for play group, we said YES! Leashes, martingale collars, air horns, and storage containers help make play group safe and effective! Through your support, we were able to donate these items!
2019 Philadoptables and Mac’s Fund Golf Outing Recap
Our first annual charity golf outing was a tremendous success! We had 68 golfers register and we had the most perfect weather possible for early April. We were also extremely appreciative for the generosity of all of the golfers. We raised a good amount of money to further our animal rescue activity. Cedarbrook Country Club in Blue Bell, PA is a private course that provided a very enjoyable experience that most would not enjoy without being a member. And did we mention the food?! We received an abundance of positive feedback that makes us very excited to hold our second annual Charity Golf Outing in 2020. Thank you to our title sponsor, Pet Valu, and to all who helped make this such an incredible event!
